We went to celebrate and occassion for a friend and I was totally disappointed. We were seated 45 mins after our reservation. They brought out butter, but no rolls. When the rolls finally arrived they were over cooked and obviously out of a package as some one did not even think to separate them before putting them in the baskets for the tables.
We were seated an additional 20 mins before our drink order was taken. It was then that we began notices that there was filth floating in the water glasses. Some of us had to repeatedly send our water glasses back only to be brought a glass with more floating filth.
My glass of wine cost almost as much as my entree and my glass had hardened filth on the side, which I scraped off with my fingernail.
We were offered salads which were totally overpriced for lettuce, cheese, onion, with oil and vinegar. I wouldn't have paid $2 for it, but it cost almost $5 in addition to our overpriced entrees. Mine was completely tasteless and my husband's had a hair in it.
To add to the utter disappointment, they were out of some wines and some of the entrees, limiting our choices.
Overall, I would never waste my time or money on this place again!

After a delightful year of planning and searching for the perfect rehearsal dinner venue, my husband and I discovered J. F. Sanfilippo's Restaurant on North Broadway, downtown St. Louis. It was the eighth restaurant we tried, and by now the wedding was five months away. From our first visit in August and at each of our following visits (once you go you just can't stop), right up to and including our rehearsal dinner last week, we not only enjoyed the most delicious Italian food, but also the warmest and most welcoming staff we have ever encountered anywhere. Joe, owner and chef, never forgets you and genuinely hopes to make you a friend for life, not just a customer. His lovely sister Connie, takes care of the front, and is truly a friend you just haven't met yet.. Joe and Connie's mother is an integral part of the kitchen magic making her fabulous dinner rolls that everyone wants to fight over. Our rehearsal dinner menu included three selections from Sanfilippo's regular menu as a combined trio on the plate; Pollo al Limone (lemon chicken), Tenderloin Danny Cox (beef tenderloin with eggplant, tomato sauce, and mozzarella), and Rigatoni Giuseppe (rigatoni pasta, perfectly al dente, in a cream tomato and vodka sauce with a bit of spice). All of our guests, twenty three total, loved the food and asked how we discovered such a great restaurant. Dessert choices are many and worth saving room for. We offered a choice of Tiramisu or cheesecake, both rich and fresh, putting that final touch on a truly wonderful meal. The room itself, which will accommodate up to fifty, I believe, is a warm, relaxing space, bathed in an orange glow from the wood accents, and, of course, offers a touch of the old country with Italian mural decorations as well. The lighting is soft and lends beautiful atmosphere, but not dark. You can read the menu and see your food! The attending staff at our dinner was timely, swift, courteous, friendly, and professional. We took over the room at 6:00pm and left by around 10:00 - 10:30pm and never felt rushed or as if we were on any time line at all. We are very happy with our choice of Sanfilippo's and are friends now, not just customers. We highly recommend this restaurant for and event or just a lovely dinner experience. If you love exquisite Italian food and warm wonderful service, this is the place to go.
