Screw the customer

My wife sent back a dish that was obviously overcooked. After five minutes, the waiter returned with the SAME DISH with a message from the Head Chef - ""THAT'S HOW WE COOK IT"". There's customer service for you - you'll eat whatever garbage we send out and you'll like it! We'll never go back.

poor service and rude servers. the place was dead

This bar is past it's prime. no one goes there anymore and the service has really declined. The cocktail servers are ugly. this place is on a downward slope.

Completely Dead, this place is slow. needs to be remodeled.

I went to this bar with some friends on a wed and thurs the music was horrible and the place was dead. They think their parking lot is part of the bar, how trashy. Go up the street to Roxanne's or Miso's for a fun time with good looking people. N.Meremec and Forsyth are where the cool bars are.

Buyer beware! They over charged my credit card! horrible food

I ordered food and drinks after a couple of hours I requested the bill. They added drinks to my order that I didnt drink I kept track of my purchased and they overcharged me. During the economy this is the last thing I need! My food was also not warm. I will never return to this establishment it has gone downhill!

Cafe Napoli, Bad food but good service, not worth the price.

I took my wife to Cafe Napoli for Valentine's day. The fish tasted horrible, like rubber and my wife's steak was undercook and not prepared right. the place looks cool but the meal was horrible. if you want something authentic you are better off going to the ""Hill"". I will not come back to this place!

Great food and customer service!!

I had a dinner party at Cafe Napoli last October for my birthday and it was the best dining experience I had ever had!! Our server, Jerome, was knowledgeable, friendly and very accomodating. The food was soooooo good. Our total bill was very expensive, but everyone agreed that it was worth it.
I went back again last week, 9/2/08, with a few friends and had yet another wonderful experience. I spent about $70 on my antipaste, entree, and 3 drinks but again, it was well worth it. My beef tenderloin (one of the specials for the night) was delicious. I normally order my meat cooked medium well but the server suggested I try it medium. I was skeptical at first but once I took my first bite I was made into a believer. This place is wonderful. I just made a reservation for my birthday party next month. I would love to make this a yearly tradition.

sidenote:
if you get water, do not get lemons to go with it. The sliced lemon arrangement they will bring you cost $5.95.

Good food.

The food is very good and reasonably priced. The outside eating area is set up nicely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Good food and atmosphere, so so price

I had the Veal Picatta, which was excellent, and my date seemed to enjoy the pasta of the day, which was some sort of seafood combination. The setting is beautiful, but the people in the restaurant were noisy. Other than that, nothing to complain about but the price tag, which is steep for a college student.

Customer is always right

I ordered a steak medium rare and the server brought out a raw piece of meat that had been ""pre-seared"" the meat was not even warm and bloody inside. When I finally caught the server, he did not apologize but simply said ""give me a second on that."" He brought out my steak, in two pieces now, again raw in the middle and a little warmer on the outside. I complained and he lectured me about what a medium rare steak is infront of the 6 people at my table. I will never again dine at Napoli because even though the food is decent as is the atmosphere, they have no idea of how to respect a customer.

Deee-licious

There was little room to loiter inside on a cold and rainy evening in January because the bar/dining area was full of patrons. When we were seated, we were greeted and given the daily specials, which all sounded wonderful. However, at a mid-scale Italian restaurant, it's always a good idea to get the Veal Parmigiana. It was nothing less than delightful. My date had the tortellini, also very good.

Wine Room Partier

The best restaurant for upscale-casual dining. For a group of 6-10, the wine room is a very entertaining time. The food is top-notch and authentically Italian....Thoroughly enjoy the entire experience each and every time we dine at ""Napoli"".

14 years and still great stuff

I have been dining at Cafe Napoli since I was roughly 16. Now that I'm 30, and no longer live in Stl, I always make it a point to stop by there when Im in town. The owner(and his family) always makes me and my guest feel at home and the food is always great. I live in NY now, and the plethera of Italian restaurants is at my beckon and call, to have a restaurant like this stand out, year after year is something to be noted. This is a great place!

Overrated

We headed to Cafe Napoli expecting a romantic evening, trendy atmosphere and exciting food. Our pasta dishes were pretty good, but our appetizer (artichokes) had almost no taste except for the salty canned broth that was dumped all over them. The crowd was more phony and pretentious than trendy, and the patio was less than romantic. The prices aren't bad for clayton, but better italian food can easily be found in STL for less. Overall, we were disappointed and do not plan on returning.

2ND BEST PATIO

You can't tell me that Cafe Napoli has the 2nd best
patio in the city. Anyone can tell that there is no ambience about concrete and a busy intersection.

A sure thing.

The staff is courteous and the food is excellent. Added to this are very reasonable prices. This is my choice for a first date restaurant. That way she is impressed with the quality and I can afford to do something after the meal. I favor the beef medallions. If dining on a Friday or Saturday, I recommend reservations. It gets busy.

Great place to be!

I have been going to Cafe Napoli for over 10 years and have become a custom to the great food and service I always receive. ..No matter how busy the restaurant is, Tony(the owner) always seems to great me and my family with a smile and his sincerity is is warm and welcomed.
I look forward to many nights to come!
Try the filet w/ Gorganzola or Veal Chop...excellent!

DETAILS
General Info
Cafe Napoli is a family owned restaurant, established in 1989 by Tony and Kathy Pietoso. Quickly becoming a success, they moved the small basement restaurant to a larger location at the corner of Forsyth and Bemiston in the heart of Clayton. In 2003, sons Ande and Kye expanded their family restaurant by adding Bar Napoli, a swank cocktail lounge. A few years later, Napoli Reserve was added onto Bar Napoli allowing for private event space and an additional bar and lounge for the weekends.
