After reading the reviews I was a little disappointed......my search for good Thai continues.
Food, good. Service horrible. Food took a very long time. Server was missing for most of the meal and did not check back. My friend did not like her drink she ordered and when the waitress finally came by, she expressed that to her. She then proceeded to announce to the entire table (8 of us) that since my friend drank half of the drink that she could not take it off the bill. All my friend said was that she did not enjoy her drink (with a smile on her face), not that she wanted it removed from the tab. She then said, politely, that she would have told her earlier but she was trying to stick it out AND never saw her. She told her manager who then came by and said the same thing the server said. Afterwards, I nicely explained to the manager how unprofessional that was (I have been a server for 10 years and would get in serious trouble for that) to the manager and she tried to defend herself and gave me a very sarcastic smile. Unbelievable. Can't believe I recommended this place to my friends.
I always drop by Spoon when I have a busy week. This is the perfect way for me to destress.
No need for a reservation on a Friday night. The food was good, the value so-so, but the location was a little weird...in the middle of nowhere right before the restaurants on Howell Mill Road. Warning; the warm is very warm, the hot is very hot.
I love Thai and I heard from friends that Spoon was a great, reasonable Thai place. I went for lunch with my husband and even though the food was ok, it was not that great and it was a little pricey. We have eaten 100 times better in Surin in the highlands for way less money. Also, the windows' decoration were all dirty and full of dust...maybe a little cleaning once and a while would not be a bad idea. I would not recommend the place, just be cause there are so many other places in the city that have really good Thai.
This place is consistently delish and a great place to find some authentic Thai food in the city. Service can be so-so at times, but overall I've never had a bad experience here. And another added plus is that there is free parking! I would recommend Spoon to anyone who's in need of some good panang curry - yum!
Easily the best Thai in town at the moment. Decor is just OK, service is authentically incomprehensible, but man-o-man - the food - the food is just fantastic. I have tried about 1/2 of the menu, and it is all good! (And remember, folks - most people go our to a restaurant for the FOOD. It's fine to note that it's a little hard to find (it's NOT), that the parking is around the corner (it IS), that many of the staff are Thai (so you may have to work a bit to understand them), and that the decor isn't stunning it is acceptably modernesque-generic, BUT, RATE IT FOR THE FOOD. And for goodness sake, if you 'don't like Thai food'. just don't rate it - it's a Thai restaurant! (I'm just sayin'...) Enough of the rant - this place is good - really good - and if you DO like authentic Thai, you WILL like this place - a lot...
The thai iced tea is great, and the massaman curry is one of the best that I've had. Its close to Downtown and Midtown, but not on any main strip. So you have to know its there.
I drop by there occasionally for lunch, and its always pretty quick to pop in and right out.
They have great decor also, and its a great spot for dates.
What can I say except about this cute little place other than it is absolutely charming and has fan-thai-stic food.
I had the sweet and sour chicken with a little kick of spice and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cheese rolls were sublime and I had the best glass of unsweet (sorry, from the north here) iced tea I think I've ever had.
Our server was great, too.
Go - now.
food here is so good, ambience is a little hyper cool for me but the food is so good and definitely worth the price. glad to hear they are opening another location.
I love this place. The thai food is spectacular; and they have some great vegetarian options. The food is consistent, and the specials are always creative. Try the thai tea martini; i drink it in like 5 seconds. The interior design is a superb asian-modern. I wish it was open later, but that is my issue with all Atlanta restaurants.
The very first time I had gone was for a GIRLS AFTERNOON, and I haven't stopped going since! Everyone I have turned on to it, has gone back! I would definitely reccommend you trying it at least once! Great place for an intimate date. The seating is close together but the atmosphere that it creates makes the experience all worth while. NO WAIT, JUST GREAT!!
The food here is so delicious and fresh! Dishes are very unique, pefectly spiced, with lots of flavor. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the veggie tempura (not too oily, with fresh veggies), all the vegetarian options (can order entrees with or without meat), and the blueberry spring rolls for dessert. These were divine! Served with coconut ice cream and mango sauce, it really topped off the meal. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. Nice place to impress a date.
Spoon is a good lunch spot in the Means Street area. I'm not a big fan of Thai, but the food is fresh and spicy! Service is decent, though not always attentive. The only drawbacks are - the seating, it's very tight and not comfortable - and the noise, it gets extremely loud.
This is a great place for a reasonably priced date. We were seated immediately around 6:30 on a wednesday. I highly recommend the tempura calamari, and the golden red snapper entree. Everything was served very hot, and service didn't slow down even when a group of about 15 came in (I happened to notice they all got served simulatneously, with steam rising from the bowls). So all in all the service and food are great, we will be returning!
This place is my new lunch haven. The food is incredible and the staff is so attentive and pleasant. My husband and I were just driving around one day looking for somewhere to eat lunch and we popped in and I have been going there ever since, at least once a week. I have never been disappointed. I have suggested it to my coworkers as well and they have also been blown away.
Spoon was everything it was advertised to be. They serve very good AUTHENTIC Thai food, and the service was impecable. My waiter constantly checked in on our party, and he made sure we had everything we needed, and that the food was to our liking. He was not Thai, but he knew the menu extremely well and impressed everyone in our party. The top 25 dessert mousse cake our waiter told us about did not dissapoint and i will definitely come back to enjoy another one of those after my meal. I had the Golden Snapper and it was absolutely delicious. My wife had the Double Soft Shell Crab, and she had nothing but good things to say about it. Great place for a quick bite to eat, but at the same time a great place for a romantic dinner. The bartender is very talented and he made us very good drinks. This is defintely one of the top Thai restaurants in the city of Atlanta
Read the good reviews and decided to try. This was the most somber, unsmiling unfriendly service I've seen in a while. No one greeted us as we entered, they just said ""Do you have a reservation?"" and proceeded to seat us (that's a good thing for a Friday night). No one smiled, there was no rapport apparent among the servers, and our server, who never introduced himself made us feel kind of stupid with his flat affect as we attempted to be friendly customers. His vibe was like ""just place your order & eat your food 'cause I could care less."" The food was mediocre in my opinion, and it was plopped down on our table in sticky bowls with no presentation whatsoever by another unsmiling person who brought our food. Although the price was reasonable for their ""classic Thai"" dishes, the lack of presentation and the sticky bowl made it more of a $6.99 meal than the $11 meal that it was. The Thai iced tea was lukewarm with a little rapidly melting ice at the top. Even their award winning chocolate mousse dessert was ok, but I didn't get ""Top 25 Desserts in Atlanta"" from it. What made us decide not to come back was when the hostess came and hovered by our table and gave us an ""oh, you're still here"" look, again with no smile or engagement and then no one said ""good-bye"" ""thank you"" ""come again"" or any of the things that you expect from a fine dining establishment after you've dropped $40 for a beef bowl, iced tea and chocolate pudding. That same hostess actually looked at us in the doorway and then just looked away as we were leaving(we think we're nice-looking people:) It was just a bummer. After reading the reviews I still don't get it. Mediocre food, unfriendly service and $5 to park? Why bother when there are so many better places.
We arrived at 12:30 for a weekday lunch and did not have to wait to be seated, but the crowd picked up closer to 1:00pm. The tables are a bit crowded and the plastic cups that they serve beverages in are scratched and dingy looking-- not appealing. However, my panang with chicken was very good, not overpriced, and was served pretty quickly. I would have preferred a lunch special that included a drink and a spring roll or something of that nature...
What a wonderfully designed urban spot for Thai cuisine. I finally had the opportunity to see what the fuss is all about....I ordered the Massamun Curry with Chicken and coconut soup with shrimp...excellent! My friend had Samros(3 flavored stir fry ) it was bold and tasty. Great atmosphere...ambiance...definitely a place for a romantic date!
