I was excited to try Chops since I've heard wonderful things about this place. Service was great. WE started with a bread basket....just ok. Then I had the lobster bisque, which a friend has raved about, just blah to me. Then at the recommendation of one of the folks I was dining with, I ordered the surf and turf. I wasn't expecting my surf to be fried, and my medium-well steak was way overdone. While is was seasoned perfectly, I couldn't enjoy it. I didn't send it back because I was there for lunch and had limited time. My mac & cheese side was overrated and so were the mashed potatoes. My friend ordered the scallops and I was shocked that they were battered as well.
Maybe I'll give them another try but I'll stick to Capital Grille. I've actually had better food at Longhorn and Ruth Chris . Price doesn't always dictate quality.

Was approached as I walked in and told that what I was wearing was not appropriate attire for the restaurant. Was wearing nice button down shirt with cargo style pants, and my wife was wearing a sweater and slacks. My son is 5 and was wearing what all 5 year olds wear. Saw on the website that the restaurant was supposed to be ""upscale casual"", however was then informed at the door after making a reservation the it was ""Business Casual"" which apparently includes a tie and jacket. I wear equipment every day in afghanistan that is more expensive than this guy's entire wardrobe and he has the nerve to say he won't serve me and my family. What a way to treat a Vet. Do not go unless you are trying to impress your date with how much money you are willing to waste for no real purpose. Ended up going to Ruth's Chris Steak House. Had a GREAT waiter, great food, awesome ambiance. Chops is for suckers.....

Fine dining at its best... A step more casual than Chops above it, but with no cut corners on the menu.
Most delicious lobster bisque that I actually ordered an additional bowl, and upon sampling mine, 2 other diners at my table ordered a bowl as well. I had the salmon as my entree and was blown away by the freshness and seasoning of the fish. My meal was accompanied witht the special martini of the evening and I could not have been more pleased.
The staff, although experienced, was not much of a modern upbeat group and some of the beverages went empty to long, considering the caliber and accolade of the restaurant.
I would most definely dine again and would consider such a venue for lunch dining as well.

This is a very upscale restaurant that I would reccommend to anyone that loves fine dining!!! The food is sensationable... The dishes are expensive, but who cares gas is nearly $5.00 a gallon so why not pay good money for good food and great service!!!

After having dinner at the Lobster Bar with my significant other Friday night, we can honestly say that we not be returning. Upon arriving we were immediately seated and to our dismay our table was extremely unbalanced to the point our water would spill out of the glass if the table was bumped. I actually had to ask our waiter to put something under the table to prevent it from shaking. Dealling with a shaky table would have been OK within itself however the unfortunate experience did not stop there. When his 4lb Lobster was brought out over cooked and unseasoned the evening continued to get worse. He wasn't even able to finish it because it was so poorly cooked. We continued to try and enjoy the evening as much as possible and I decided not to complain at that point because we really just wanted to leave. The next morning he went out to start his truck and the battery was dead. Why? Because the valet turned on his lights instead of keeping them on automatic lights. His lights had been on all night because of a valet mistake. On Sunday I decided to call and express my concerns to the manager. Not because we wanted to be compensated because we already decided we would not be visiting there again, but in hopes another customer didn't experience what we did. The manager who I expressed my concerns to had an excuse for everything. The table was shakey because it was half on carpet and half on tile. The lobster was rubbery because it was a 4lb lobster. The valets always turn the lights on fully. As a customer of such a high profile restaurant I expect my concerns to be heard out with out excuses being made. If 4lb lobsters are rubbery then why serve them on your menu? If having tables split on carpet and tile causes instabilty find something to fix the issue prior to the customer sitting down? An experienced valet would know the difference between automatic lights and manual lights if he looked at the dial when he touched it? Low Class Service.

I had a business lunch at Chops recently (we ate upstairs - I think Lobster Bar isn't open for lunch) and it the experience was flawless. We had crabcakes (which were so full of crab meat - almost no breading) and lobster bisque to start and steaks for main course. All of the steaks were cooked perfectly to our specifications. The servers were impressive because they provided everything we needed before we could even ask - a great advantage when you're trying to have a meeting. Usually, I wouldn't get dessert at lunch, but the creme brulee piled high with gorgeous fresh berries was well worth the exception. All in all, it was a great experience and far exceeded all expectations. Chops is the first place on my list of great lunch (and dinner, I'm sure) spots!

Recommend making reservations, or you could wait some time to be seated. Took my husband there for his birthday dinner and it was very good. I had told the reservationist beforehand that it was his birthday and everyone from the host, servers made a note to mention ""Happy Birthday"" to him. We tried the house special lobster as an appetizer and it was very good, with wonderful sauces. I had a crab chowder which could have been more flavorful - not to thick, though and that's what I prefer. My husband had the ribeye, I had the pan roasted chicken - and they were both absolutely delicious. Dessert, we had rum raisin bread pudding. Also very tasty.
I give this two thumbs up! Attentive service, delicious food, a bit pricey.

I have dined at Chops a handfull of times over the past year and each time have been very impressed. The staff was friendly, the steak was prepared exactly to my liking. Our waiter was an expert in wine paring, and made our experience very enjoyable. Hands down the best steak house I've been to in Atlanta.
Chops, like the other restaurants in the Buckhead Life Group, has always been the standard in its niche! My husband and I celebrated my birthday there recently, and on all accounts we thoroughly enjoyed the experience...from the server, to the time it took for the meal to arrive, to the food itself and of course the atmosphere, we couldn't have been more pleased. When we tell others that these are some of our favorite restaurants, the comment we most often hear is that they tend to be expensive. For us, it is all about value, and we truly believe we get that at Chops! The portions are generous, so plan to go hungry!!!
Can't go wrong here. My husband can order steak and I can have crab cakes and lobster. Ask the bar tender to recommend wine for your meal. Our's went perfectly. The crab cakes were full of huge chunks of crab instead of being ground fine with a lot of filler. Also, the dips/sauces were incredible!

We've been to other Buckhead Life restaurants & expected better. From the beginning it was a little iffy as the host was a bit rude - even trying to make the reservation had me on hold for almost 10 minutes! The server was pretty much inattentive and when he was at the table, he did one of those ""how is everything"" and basically walked away before you could tell him. The assistant, Chidi (sp?), was great - he filled up everything and got everything we asked for, plus he had a personality, which the server was severely lacking. APPETIZER: lump crab cocktail. It was delicious - 2 different sauces - #1 was regular cocktail sauce that I could buy at Kroger, #2 was a pink brandy sauce with a bit too much mayo, but it was still tasty. SALAD: Caesar salads were very lack luster. ENTREE: filet and the surf & turf with filet & their specialty of the flash fried lobster tail. The lobster was chewy and lacked flavor. We ordered the steaks medium, but they were definitely on the medium-well/well side - not much pink at all, and it was DRENCHED in very salty au jus, that tasted a lot like soy sauce. I didn't send it back, but I probably should have (and I hate being That Customer). SIDE: creamed. It was really, really good! It had a hint of nutmeg in it, but when I asked the server, he said he didn't think so but he'd check. He was at the table another 5 times and kept mentioning that he hadn't checked and he never did. DESSERT: chocolate toffee crunch pie with coffee ice cream. It was more like a flourless chocolate cake than a pie, but it really doesn't matter what you call it, it was VERY good! The denseness of the chocolate with the smooth coffee ice cream and the little bits of toffee was heavenly.
NOTE: after contacting the manager, he did apologize and offer a complimentary dinner, which wasn't my objective, but it's nice that he responded so quickly. I don't believe I'll be going back even so...

My sister wanted to take me for my birthday so we went 6/30/07. From the time we arrived at 5:30 til the time we left the service was impeccable. The food was superb and I had the best Mojito I ever had. Our waiters were so professional and attentive. The food was fresh and needed nothing but to be eaten!!! I cant wait to return again. Its very classy and upscale and the service and quality you get will have you leaving feeling the same way!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a disapointment for me... Very crowded place with no sign of ""fine dining"" establishment they claim to be. Food was just OK. Their ""signature"" fried lobster tail wasn't that good at all. Crab cakes had slightly harder crust then they should. Steaks were good though. Waiters' uniforms were old and not very clean looking but service wasn't bad and staff was attentive. Overall, wasn't worth the money and definitely, not a place to take your date. I am quite sure we won't be back.

Well once again the quality of a Buckhead Life restaurant was dead-on. We had reservations at Bones, to celebrate my girlfriend?s birthday but due to a water main break they were not seating any new customers, which was terrible especially at 8:30 in the evening and no backup plans!
So we headed on over to the nearby Chops!
Best idea ever. Right from the onset, the wait staff was courteous, and very attentive. (Ask for Daniel who was our server). We were seated promptly even though the place looked very busy and we did not even have reservations.
Now getting on to the most important part: - the food: The food was very good. I had the swordfish steak and my girlfriend had the 8oz. filet and it was cooked to perfection.
A must-try try is their creamy Vidalia onion soup. (It was on the soup of the day list, so it could be a seasonal thing)
Our server even had the pastry chef inscribe happy birthday on the dessert at the end.
All in all a great save to an evening, which was heading towards a boyfriend being sentenced to a fine evening at the ""dog-house""!
(A happy and might I add relieved boyfriend )

The food was not bad, though I don't think it was worth the price. For money like that, I'd recommend Blue Ridge Grill. And, at Blue Ridge Grill, at least you'll be getting consistently attentive and friendly service. My guests and I found the waiter to be somewhat condescending and not especially attentive.

We were out for dinner with 6 of our employees from a Marketing Firm out of Birmingham, AL. The food was great, the service was great, and the drinks from the service bar came out fast and cold. The cocktails and wine came out excellent and AFFORDABLE. I had one of the best Felit's in a long time! And a GOOD TIME was had by all!
